You may want to know what a Chrysalis course involves before you enrol. That’s why Chrysalis Not For Profit has decided to explain the teaching methods we use throughout Chrysalis courses.

Length of study

Each Chrysalis course is designed to provide you with the training you need to enter a career in counselling. The amount of time you spend on your course will depend on which training programme you have enrolled in. For example, the Chrysalis Certificate in Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills is taught in one year, whilst the Chrysalis Diploma in Counselling Skills and Theory is taught over two years.

Teaching methods

We apply the same approach to teaching throughout each of the courses you can enrol in with Chrysalis Not For Profit. You’ll engage in face-to-face work along with a wide variety of regular assessed practical and theoretical modules. You’ll also be asked to complete one homework assignment every month. This means that you’ll do 30 hours of reading and eight hours of writing outside of class per month.

You’ll also be able to access help outside of the classroom when you study a Chrysalis course. You can contact your tutor by phone anytime between classes. The majority of our training programmes also have practice groups that meet between modules.

Client work

You’ll also be asked to do client work when you take a Chrysalis course. The nature of this client work will depend on which training programme you’ve enrolled in and your skill level.

If you are studying a Level 2 or Level 3 course, the majority of your client work will be case study based under classroom supervision. However there are formal supervision requirements for the Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and you may be asked to do an external placement.

Chrysalis Not For Profit

In conclusion, when you take a Chrysalis course you’ll study a comprehensive training programme that’s taught in a number of ways. This allows Chrysalis Not For Profit to give you the grounding you need to develop a career in counselling.
